Raja Pravartini Vati is an Ayurveda herbal medicine, Best herbs for menstruation, used in Ayurveda treatment of amenorrhea(primary & secondary), and scanty bleeding. It is used for the treatment of women’s health problems. Its main effects appear on uterus and ovaries. It is likely to stimulate ovulation and corrects the ovarian functions. It increases menstrual discharge as it has emmenagogue action on uterine muscles. It is helpful in the treatment of amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea associated with light menstruation or scanty periods, and backache during menstruation & oligomenorrhea as well. It is beneficial when patients feel outflow obstruction during menstruation as it has the best herbs for menstruation.

Raja Pravartini Vati has Ushana (Hot) potency. All the ingredients present in this herbal medicine have potent emmenagogue action which promotes the menstrual flow by releasing obstruction in menstruation. This obstruction is generally due to lack of blood supply in pelvic organs which in Ayurveda terminologies can be termed as increased Kapha and aggravated Vata. Rajah Pravartani not only pacifies Kapha dosha and Vata dosha, but it also increases Pitta dosha which is required in these patients.

Amenorrhea & Oligomenorrhea

 Amenorrhea is a condition when there is no periods in females.

Raja Pravartini Vati increases blood circulation to the pelvic region which increases menstruation and helps in releasing Menstrual flow. Few of Its ingredients like Kasis bhasam and Asafetida is researched to have potent emmenagogue property. This action of herbal ingredients also helps to treat Oligomenorrhea as well.  Amenorrhea is a medical condition in which there is a complete absence of Periods (menstruation) for at least three menstrual periods in a row. Amenorrhea is caused due to problems with the female reproductive organs, or glands that help regulate hormonal levels.

The symptoms of amenorrhea:

Causes of amenorrhea include the use of certain medicines, contraceptives, stress, malnutrition, imbalance of female hormones (PCOS/PCOD, thyroid dysfunction, etc.). Other causes are defects in the reproductive system of females.

It can be taken with Kumaryasava, Dashmoolarishata for better results.

Raja Pravartini Vati should be given until the patient gets the period. When a patient gets the period with proper flow, then it should be stopped for 10 days, and then again it should be started. This should be repeated for at least 3 to 6 months to normalize the menstrual cycle.

Dysmenorrhea

 Dysmenorrhea is a gynecological condition of a painful period.

Some associated symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea like

It can be taken with Sutshekhar Ras with Praval Pishti.

Leucorrhoea (White discharge) – It is used in leucorrhoea. Many women suffer from leucorrhoea before and after periods.

It can be taken with Pushyanug Churan, Dashmoolarishata.

Effects on Tridosha – It balances Vata and Pitta.

Dosage of Rajah Pravartini Vati

 2 tablets twice a day to be taken after breakfast and dinner with lukewarm water, Tila Kashaya, Kulattha Kashaya. It is usually given starting from the fourth week of the menstrual cycle till the onset of menstruation. The medicine should be stopped soon after the onset of menstruation, or after 2 – 3 days after.
