Chemical Constituents

The major bioactive constituents of Asparagus are a group of isoflavones, steroidal saponins, polysaccharides, and asparagamine.

Also contains vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, Mg, P, Ca, Fe, and folic acid.

Chemical constituents of Asparagus are essential oils, arginine ,asparagine, flavonoids, tyrosine (quercetin, kaempferol, and rutin), resin and tannin.

Mainly known for its phyto-estrogenic properties(lignans).

Roots and rhizomes of  Shatavari have potent antitussive, antioxidant, antiulcer, antidyspepsia, and anticancer activity.
