Anti-inflammatory
It has anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces swelling and pain. It reduces Vata which is the main cause of the swelling. Its constituent linolenic acid is responsible for its anti-inflammatory effect. So, this is one of the best herbs for bronchitis as it reduces the inflammation of bronchioles and makes cough to ooze out. Thus, it works on all upper respiratory infections from minor cough cold to bronchitis & bronchial asthma even.
In Asthma it is advised with SVM and Sitopladi Mishran.
Powerful Antimicrobial & Antioxidant properties are also exhibited by this plant which helps in making this plant effective in various microbial infections of the Upper respiratory tract.
Skin disorders
It is used widely in skin disorders like- rashes, itching, insect bites. It is also used in pimples, acne, and scars. It kills bacteria and infections. The primary active compound of tulsi oil is eugenol which helps fight skin-related disorders. It helps treat skin infections both internally and externally.

Respiratory disorders
Due to the presence of compounds like camphene, eugenol, and cineole, tulsicures viral, bacterial, and fungal infections of the respiratory system.
